MISSION STATEMENT

The major concern of T.U.R.F./Girls Group is their participants. We strive to develop each young girl to her greatest potential by providing her with a loving environment where she may attain intellectual and emotional growth at a level commensurate with her abilities.

We strive to develop in each individual a respect for and a sense of responsibility to herself and society. Each young woman is responsible for passing on to each other values of being a young woman. Our goal is a self-motivated learner who is interested in expanding her knowledge and who is capable of applying what she knows to life's problems.

Hopefully, each girl will obtain an awareness of the ethical dimensions of life so that her talent and knowledge will be used with wisdom, compassion and integrity.

We strive to create in each participant a sense of her own power and identity as an emerging adult, with self-confidence and knowledge of her strengths and limitations.

EXPECTATIONS OF A GIRLS GROUP PARTICIPANT

" To conduct herself as a young lady.

" To learn the content of respect, to study, to complete their homework assignments and to learn to think critically about what she is learning

" To support an atmosphere of learning for others.

" To cooperate with all rules and regulations of the center.

" To show respect to the Coordinator, participants, staff and all persons to whom she comes in contact and to their property.

" To demonstrate Girls Group spirit by positive involvement in activities and by promoting the group to the community.

RESPECT FOR OTHERS

Respect for others comes from having pride in the Girls Group and in the principles for which it stands. Courtesy and consideration for participants and staff are part of the cooperative spirit that we expect.
